icon5 Different Lineup than US - No 'Art Bell'?

I was excited to find out that 'Coast to Coast AM' with George Noory (and Art Bell) was being aired on 'Ask!' (ch165), but when I got my Canadian XM radio working, channel 165 wasn't available. It didn't even dawn on me that Canada's channel listing would be different, same satelite no?

Does anybody know if 'Ask!' is going to be added to Canada's line up? Or, does anybody know if any other channel has 'Coast to Coast AM' airied?

Thanks
-- Doug

Unfortunately, the canned reponse is likely all we will see on this.

I just bought an XM Radio and was about to activate the service and noticed a big difference in the lineup that we see on XM Canada vs XM US . This has me re-thinking and now I may go and sign up on the US network. You need a US address so that is not going to be a problem for me ....

Yeah, there's a lot that's different between the U.S. and Canada. Channel lineup is one, but another is method of payment for the subscription. in the U.S. you can get billed monthly or once every three months - there are different payment options. Here in Canada, you get one option period - and that's Credit Card, every three months. I phoned them to ask when other options would become available and was told "we're working on it". I asked again for a time estimate and got zero response so I asked to speak to a supervisor - didn't fare better there either. And their tone was frosty.

Ah well. I wanted it anyway so got it. So far - no regrets. One reason I went with XM rather than Sirius: no possibility of Stern.

Due to XM Canada's failure to come clean about the "missing channels" I have come to the following conclusion. It is only an opinion, please regard it as such.
XM only gained their licence after agreeing to conditions of a minimum precentage of channels having Canadian content.
XM Canada, for whatever reason, have decided to create only so many new Canadian content channels which is not enough to meet the percentage agreed under their licencing conditions if they permit access to the full US line up.
The end result is we in Canada get a much reduced lineup compared to US. subscribers, who incidently also get the newly created Canadian channels.
No good complaining to XM the problem is with the Canadian Federal authorites
The canned response by XM Canada to legitimate customer enquiries is typical corporate stonewalling.
Why they can't be honest one can only guess.
